Dinner Date @ The Manila Hotel’s Champagne Room
We’ve dined at the Champagne Room of the Manila Hotel a number of times already. However, they were all for specific occasions and grandiose events like the Miss World Thanksgiving Night a year ago.
Dinner Date @ The Champagne Room
For the familiar, we know you’d agree that the classic and elegant ambience of The Manila Hotel Champagne room is most suitable for a romantic date.
And that’s what we had a few months ago.
Our original purpose at the Manila Hotel was to join in the celebration of their Christmas Tree lighting ceremonies. After the well-lit event, we had a sudden change of plans and decided to let the rush hour traffic pass.
After confirming an available slot, we took the chance to dine at the Champagne Room which we had wanted to do for the longest time.
The floral upholstered chairs, tassel chandeliers, and live music performances endeared even more, completing a lovely dinner date any couple would appreciate.
Champagne Room Degustation Set
Here’s what we had that special night featuring the Champagne Room Degustation Set Menu. Please take note that the menu offering changes every month.
We started the classic French set menu with warm dinner rolls with butter and paté on the side.
It was followed by the appetiser – a cold-smoked duck breast pear Waldorf salad in blueberry dressing. It was a good one, palate-pleasing, and refreshing.
We were just slightly surprised actually, as we had high expectations from the fine-dining restaurant, to start with.
For the much anticipated soup, a heart-warming Roasted Kumara Winter Squash Soup cooked with local lobster, sunflower seeds, micro greens came in very comforting.
A prelude to the mains was the innocent-looking Wild Mushrooms Ravioli with light cepes cream. It turned out be our favorite in the set. 😉
In between, a scoop of the Red Dragon Fruit Sorbet was served to cleanse our taste buds; a break before the mains.
Service-wise, the Champagne Room‘s hotel-quality service remains outstanding.
For the main dish, the Surf and Turf consisted of pan-seared scallops with crispy fried pork belly sous vide pommery sauce, Madeira sauce, garlic chives potato puree, baby carrots and French beans.
Although the serving size was too much for us, we did not let it pass. We were able to finish it anyway as the meat was tender and juicy. The sauce complements well with the pork belly and potato puree.
We punctuated the mains with a serving of artisanal French Cheese set.
For sweet endings, a warm chocolate pudding made more special with Tahitian vanilla beans sauce and a creamy nougat ice-cream.
The Champagne Room is open mainly for dinner, from Mondays to Saturdays. This Gustatory Dinner set costs Php 3,400 / person or Php 3,900 / person with a choice of sparkling wine, red, or white wine by the glass.
