Our First Dining Experience at Olive Garden
The first Olive Garden in the Philippines opened a few months ago. The first branch was quite far from home but I told my husband that we should check it when we passed by MOA or IKEA. We’re glad that Olive Garden opened its 2nd branch in Glorietta and Seats For Two were able to join the grand launch last week.
Olive Garden is known for their never-ending meaning of unlimited salad and soup. The friendly waiter immediately took our orders. There were two kinds of appetizers, Shrimp Frito Misto and Lasagna Fritta. We had Shrimp Frito Misto, basically it’s fried shrimp and zucchini with yummy spicy ranch dip. Hubby ordered the minestrone soup and chicken & gnocchi for me. It also came with never-ending Olive Garden’s breadsticks.
I love the chicken & gnocchi soup. It’s creamy and tasty, deliciously perfect for the cold weather. Lately, I’ve been loving gnocchi, I learned about it when I was tasked to create a dish for US Potato where I decided to create pesto gnocchi. We had our second serving of the soups, I love this chicken & gnocchi and I’m sure to order this again on my next visit.
We had Tour of Italy and Shrimp Scampi for the mains. The Tour of Italy has chicken alfredo pasta, lasagna and chicken parmesan. We were not surprise that the pasta dishes were amazing, the noodles were cooked al dente served with just the right amount of sauce. Serving size can be shared by two.
Hubby ordered the Shrimp Scampi mainly because he loves shrimps. I love Alfredo but the Shrimp Scampi my husband ordered turned out to be my favorite so I almost finished the whole serving. Serving size is good for one person though.
We haven’t finished the mains yet but we were excited to try Olive Garden’s dessert. Of course, we tried both the Mango Cheesecake and warm Italian Doughnuts also called zepolle. It’s drizzled with powdered sugar and served with chocolate dip, I think they will also go well with caramel sauce. What do you think?
Overall, it was a wonderful first lunch date at the Olive Garden. We just hope they will add more dishes to the menu. We even met one Olivia, one of the trainers from the states who shared more about Olive Garden. There are plans to open more branches in the future and we’re hoping they will have one somewhere north, perhaps in Trinoma.
