Valentine’s Date at Ponce
The month of February is kind’ a special for us. Not because of Valentine’s Day, but because it’s our wedding anniversary. But how do we celebrate special occasions in pandemic? We looked for an intimate place where we can at least enjoy a lovely dinner and we found Ponce Tapas and Wine.
Ponce is a Spanish restaurant and Tapas bar located along Sct. Lazcano. Location wise, it’s just fifteen minutes away from home. For Valentine’s Day, the restaurant offered a 5-course Valentine’s Dinner for two at P2,999 per head. We chose February 13 for the dinner date.
The staff were friendly and welcoming; ushered us to our reserved table. We got a table just in front of the stage. Amare Rhythms playing guitar and violin, serenades the guests.
Our drinks were served immediately – red wine and sangria. To start with, we had a delicious appetizer comprises of Chicharrones, Iberian Ham, Herb Scallop, Pickled Radish, Octopus croquette w/paprika alioli.
A rich and flavorful Prawn Bisque with Pan con Langosta for soup. Salad was very good as well, a seared sesame crusted tuna loin, baby arugula, root vegetables with orange cilantro dressing.
Melt-in-you-mouth braised wagyu beef cheeks was the highlight of our romantic dinner. Unfortunately, we were not able to talk to the chef and asked about the dishes but we guess it was cook slowly to bring out the flavor. The wagyu beef was so tender, juicy, and tasty. It goes well with the nutty lightly sweet taste of Truffle potato gratin and sweet potato allumettes.
Already full from the four dishes but we made sure to save space for dessert. Ponce served us Tropical Mousse, biscuit daquiose, coconut meringue and strawberry jelly for dessert.
Ponce Tapas and Wine is a Spanish restaurant located at 124 Sct. Dr. Lazcano St., Brgy. Sacred Heart, Tomas Morato, Quezon City, 1103 Metro Manila, Quezon City, Philippines.
