Century Park Hotel Celebrates Chinese New Year
We spent our 2019 Chinese New Year‘s eve at the Century Park Hotel in Manila last night to celebrate this festive cultural occasion with the business tycoon Lucio Tan and his family who served as the guests of honor in this grand event.
Here are some snaps, photos, and video of the Chinese New Year celebration at Century Hotel Manila:
At 7pm, an eye-dotting blessing ceremony took place before the lion’s first dance at the Atrium Lounge.
The ritual was said to empower the lion to bring about protection, good luck, health, and prosperity to the attendees. The “eyes” of the lion reflect the spirit so the last step before it comes alive is for its eyes to be dotted.
The lion and dragon dance followed right after to chase away evil spirits and welcome the new year. This performance was accompanied with loud drums and cymbals.
A sumptuous set of Chinese dishes was showcased at the Café in the Park dinner buffet (Php 1,495 net) for guests craving for Chinese cuisine.
“We look forward to having all of you at the hotel and share this evening with us,” said Anthony Tan, CPH’s General Manager. “May the Year of the Pig bring prosperity and good health to everyone,” he further added.
To cap off the celebration, a grand fireworks display was held to seal the momentous occasion.
Here is the short Youtube video we took from last night’s festivities:
Interestingly, this is only our 2nd time to visit Century Park Hotel Manila as a couple. The first one was for Grace Christian Church of the Philippines‘ 50th anniversary dinner gathering a few months ago.
