Top 5 Reasons To Stay At Discovery Shores Boracay

A little more than a month after our leisurely island-vacation at Club Paradise Resort and experiencing the newly opened Henann Resort in Bohol even before their grand opening, we found ourselves enjoying the sands again; this time in Discovery Shores Boracay – situated at the top island tourist-destination in the Philippines – Boracay Island.

This would be our fourth time in three years, as a couple, in the famous island of Boracay. But what made this visit special is that it was our first time in Discovery Shores Boracay located at the better part of the island – Station 1, where the ambience is more serene and relaxed, just how a tropical paradise should be.

To summarize how great our expereince was, we didn’t find the need to go out of the resort! Aside from the 2-hr “paraw sailing“, we spent the whole of our 3 days and 2 night stay IN THE RESORT, trying and experiencing the resort’s different facilities and amenities.

It was that good, and we left the resort with a heavy heart, like a child, not wanting to leave the mini-paradise. <3 Not to say that you need not explore the other parts of Boracay, we’ve done that in our past three visits

Now, we’d like to tell you about our experience and what made our recent stay an awesome one!

Here are five (5) reasons why you should book your stay in Discovery Shores Boracay in your next Boracay trip:

1. Easy, Comfortable Transfers From/To Boracay (via private van, air-conditioned speed boat, & DSB service van)

We took the 9am flight to Caticlan via Philippine Airlines (PAL) and arrived in Boracay airport in an hour. Waiting for us in the airport was a young lady with a big smile. Then, she assisted us with our luggages to Discovery Shores‘ private van.

We found ourselves at the Fairways Welcome center 7 minutes later. It’s a private lounge and welcome center where guests of private resorts can relax while waiting for their yacht, boat, or hotel’s speed boat going to and from the main Boracay island.

It was our first time as well in Fairways Welcome Center. Our usual route from the airport is via tricylce to Jetty Port where we take the public ferry.

Aboard Discovery Shores‘s air conditioned speed boat, we enjoyed a comfortable boat ride with a pair of complimentary bottled water and cookies.  The short trip was about 15 minutes.

2. Best Hotel Rooms & Amenities

Discovery Shores currently offers 87 hotel rooms consisting of:

• 65 junior suites
• 5 one-bedroom suites
• 12 one-bedroom suite premier
• 3 two-bedroom suites
• 2 two-bedroom suites premier

The hotel rooms are divided into five clusters, each cluster building has 3-storey levels.

Right after lunch, we were in intense anticipation of our room. A first floor accommodation would have provided easy access to the pool but our Junior Suite at the second floor is just as lovely with an elevated view of the pool. 🙂

In character of Discovery Leisure properties, the room has modern interiors and design which we love. For a change, the bed was unusually at the middle of the room; welcomingly facing the glass windows and the veranda.

Near the room entrance is the toilet and bath equipped with raindrop shower head with hot & cold water.

Interestingly, the hotel provides huge tubes of shampoo, a separate hair conditioner, shower gel, lotion and bar bath soaps. We rarely see big tubes of toiletries in a hotel.

Moreover, we found a Nespresso machine with three complementary Nespresso capsules! This is something coffee lovers will surely be very happy about. It complements the regular coffee and tea facility right beside it.

A beautiful and welcoming center table was filled with welcome fruits, cookies (from the kitchen of the Sands Restaurant), nuts and cold pandan juice. (the latter, cashew, and pili nuts were the first to disappear, lol).

Above all, Discovery Leisure‘s signature welcome treat made our day – a dessert set with our printed blog logos of Seats For Two and Woman In Digital. We appreciate the lovely gesture.

Rooms at Discovery Shores are equipped with air-conditioning units and LCD television w/ cable channel which we rarely use because we spent most of our time at the beach, pool or at Sands Restaurant.

3. White Sand Beachfront: Powdery and Clean

Known for its powdery white sand and crystal clear waters, Boracay remains to the top choice of local and international tourists alike. Although, it’s starting to be known as a beach party place for the young, this is only true for stations 2 and 3. Station 1, where DSB is, remain to be quiet, relaxed, and secluded.

Upon our arrival at the resort by lunchtime, we had a sumptuous lunch at Sand’s Restaurant which we will feature in the next few weeks, so stay tuned! (but there’s a teaser towards the end of the article) 🙂

4. Outstanding Service

You’d notice this the moment you step into the resort. The staff are respectful and very attentive to your needs.

More noticeably, almost everyone greets you as you pass by. It was great on the first day but it reaches a point that you’d wish they won’t notice you anymore! :p Kidding aside, they have the best butler service in our experiences to date, both locally and internationally.

We are already familiar with Discovery Leisure‘s signature foot wash. We first experienced it in our Club Paradise Palawan stay. 5.  Great Food

Discovery Shores resort has two restaurants, two bars, and an all-day butler concierge services.

First of which is the Sands Restaurant which highlights Filipino cuisine in their featured ala carte dishes. As a teaser, we had a sumptuous Kare-Kare Bulalo, Fresh Lumpia, the Visayan dish Laswa, Sisig Rice topped with fried egg, and Pork Binagoongan during our first lunch.

You will also enjoy a filling breakfast buffet with international spread in the mornings. The freshly baked breads from caramel rolls to croissants were all very good. You won’t miss home with a friendly staff coming to your table to offer freshly baked pandesal as well.

You should not miss their healthy and yummy smoothies either. The smoothies command a price bordering expensive, but it comes with a huge serving which makes it worth it.

Right beside Sand’s Restaurant is the similarly upscale Indigo, Discovery Shore’s premium restaurant.

Indigo restaurant offers a highly seasonal menu of creative coastal cuisine. On our first night, , they set-up a fantastic five course dinner-by-the-beach paired with delicious glass of wine, specially for Seat For Two.

There are surely more than these five (5) reasons. But these five points about the hotel itself, location, service, food, and amenities makes Discovery Shores Boracay our paradise on this side of the Philippines. We can truly say it’s the best resort in Boracay.
