Foodie Find: Nanbantei Of Tokyo Samurai Sets P888
Nanbantei of Tokyo recently launched a number of yakitori dishes, both timeless favorites and unique ones, that incessantly goes well with their new cocktails as well.
Nanbantei expanded the concept of yakitori, originally meaning“grilled chicken” in Japan, to include beef, pork, seafood and vegetables—all combined with a variety of fresh ingredients, then served hot off the grill. But what piqued my interest most among the new offerings was their Samurai Set P888 Good for 3 which we discovered in their Bonifacio High Street Central branch .
Samurai Set P888 Good for 3
Seats For Two was recently invited to try Nanbantei of Tokyo’s new special offerings including unique yakitoris, new cocktail drinks and our aforementioned #SoSulit foodie find Good For Three meal set for only P888!
Called Samurai Sets, you can choose from among three sets A, B, and C which consists of the following:
- Samurai Set A – has three orders each of Tebasaki, Poteto Maki, Negima, Aspara Maki, Pork Yakiniku and Ebi Tempura.
- Samurai Set B – includes three orders each of Leba Maki, Beef Garlic Yaki, Pork Garlic Yaki, Beef Yakiniku, Shake Kushi Yaki and Kani Salad
- Samurai Set C – comprised of three orders each of Bonjiri, Tebasaki, Sakana Maki, Tsukune, Shiso Maki and Tori Karaage.
Although I was only able to try Set A, I could say that it would be my set of choice given any day because of the Ebi Tempura. 🙂
I think the Php 888 price is really worth your money because it gives you 5 plates with 3 huge yaktori sticks of the indicated kind. Moreover, 4 of the 5 yakitori’s of this set are Nanbantei’s bestseller.
They’re served hot of the grill so make sure to consume them immediately since these are best eaten hot. All sets include three (3) Miso Soup and three (3) servings of rice (gohan).
The Nanbantei P888 Samurai Set Meal for 3 promo has been extended to September 30, 2014 and is available for lunch or dinner from Monday to Friday.
Unique Yakitori
We were fortunate enough to be showered with Nanbantei’s generosity as we were able to try other Nanbantei dishes as well such as their salad, new unique yakitoris & new cocktail drinks
We started with their appetizing Shiitake Mushroom Salad (P180) with shitake mushrooms of course, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, carrots and radish topped with onion leeks. But the best part of this salad for me is the aromatic sesame dressing. Mix it with your salad bowl for best results.
First on the menu of our three new unique yakitori specials is the Shrimp with Bacon yakitori (P270). It includes two sticks of three sweetened shrimps wrapped in bacon strips. I know, it seems quite expensive for 2 sticks, but it’s worth the try.
The second one is for the more adventurous foodies. Called the ‘Gyu-Tan‘ (P170), it literally translates into “cow-tongue.” Yes, it is what you think it is – an ox’s tongue. Fear factor aside, the garlic-infused grilled delicacy is actually soft and uniquely flavorful. Even for P170 per plate of two sticks, I still highly recommend it for the courageous foodie!
The third one is called Buta Negi (P90) which is a skewers of onion leeks wrapped with pork slices. Simple, but good as well.
If you are wanting for more, you can still go with Nanbantei’s best sellers Apara Maki, Tebassaki, Pork Garlic Yaki, Shiso Maki, Negima, and Poteto Maki. It comes as a set of 21 sticks with corn for only P975.
New Cocktail Drinks
My wife and I started with the fusion Mango-Strawberry Shake and Strawberry Shake, respectively. I love the Mango-Strawberry Shake my wife had. After the Samurai sets, we proceeded with the new cocktail drinks.
Kampai! Nanbantei of Tokyo reveals a colorful array of new signature cocktails. The six new spirits are:
- Hibiscus Mojito (P150) : mojito mint, Bacardi White, hibiscus syrup, mint leaves, fresh lime juice, lime wedge, soda water
- Malibu Midori (P125): Midori Melon Liqueur, Malibu Rum, Bacardi White, sweet and sour mix, pineapple juice
- Gin Basil (P125): Tanqueray Gin, sweet and sour mix, fresh basil, simple syrup, Sprite
- Fresh Rita (P150): Cuervo 1800, Agave syrup, fresh lime juice, sweet and sour mix, lemon wedge
- Japanese Mojito (P175): Ichiko Sochu, fresh calamansi juice, simple syrup, soda water, ooba leaves
For a light drinker like me, it was only the Japanese Mojito which I dared try from the five. Fortunately, I liked what they did with the Cuban classic favorite which used ooba leaves instead of the usual mint which made it veer away from the typical mojito.
And to end the meal with a sweet note, we had 2 scoops each of the Green Tea Ice Cream and the new Avocado Ice Cream. We liked them both although the Green Tea Ice Cream reminded us of one of our favorite similar dessert from another Japanese restaurant in Greenbelt. 🙂
