Breakfast by the Beach @ Sands Restaurant, Discovery Shores Boracay
The world-renowned White Beach of Boracay is reopening in less than a week. This led us to look back at our recent trip to the island; more specifically at the Discovery Shores Boracay.
Aside from its fine, white sands, and glistening blue waters, food is also one of the things to look forward to in this top Philippine destination. In particular, our Junior Suite Discovery Shores accommodation back in March 2018 came with a buffet breakfast at the resort’s all-day restaurant – Sands.
As if waking up in the beach front of Boracay is not enough, satisfying your breakfast cravings with an awesome view of the sea shore makes mornings at Sands Restaurant paradise-like.
The local birds called ‘maya‘ will agree with you as they await your bread crumbs fall-off the table. Choose from the wide array of specialty breads, soup, fresh fruits, cereals, and intercontinental viands including Pinoy favorites.
And of course, breakfast classsics crispy bacon, sausages, pancakes and waffles, among others, will always be there. Moreover, the breakfast spread changes everyday.
The restaurant also has an al fresco area just right outside the window-side where you can dine nearer the shore and enjoy the powdery sands on your feet.
Friendly staff also go around to offer plated seasonal fruits and hot pandesal at your pleasure. They are very hospitable and courteous, which is a signature service of the Discovery brand.
Personally as a couple, Discovery Shores Boracay offers the best customer service in the Philippine hospitality industry; you can quote that from Seats For Two!
Beyond just the skill in service, you would know that their concern comes from the heart – a world-known FIlpino trait. No wonder, the hotel and resort received the Conde Naste Awards for Excellence.
All-Day Restaurant
We’ve been in the island a couple of times, and we love spending the whole afternoon swimming or simply watching the waves and waiting for the sunset.
Aside from breakfasts, we were also able to try a lunch serving from Sands and a candle-lit dinner at Indigo, another Discovery Shores restaurant we will feature in the next few days.
Back to our lunch affair, we ordered the Salmon Sinigang. Served in a black palayok, the hot sour soup was a relaxing fare right after a long morning swim.
The serving is huge and can be shared by 2 to 3 persons. Its broth was flavorful but not too sour, while the ingredients were fresh and tasty as well.
We also shared a serving of Chicken Inasal and Tortang Talong.
The former was cooked just right and is very flavorful just as it is aromatic; to add, it was tender and juicy as expected.
The cute mini ‘kaldero‘ of rice by the side was gone in a jiff!
The latter was basically a ‘grilled eggplant frittata‘ made more tasty with ground pork. It may look simple, but it went well with the other dishes.
Sands Restaurant also offers snacks and healthy smoothies which we occasionally ordered from the pool side as a light snack.
Guests may also order a selection of cocktails, liquor, and food items from the nearby pool bar.
These are just among some of the reasons why leaving the resort on the last day is never easy. Our vacation in Discovery Shores Boracay has always been memorable.
