Pleasant Nostalgia @ Somerset Olympia Makati
We frequent Makati City and we pass by Ayala and Makati Ave every so often. However, we haven’t been to, and only pass by, Somerset Olympia Makati. Well, not until a few weeks ago, when it became the first hotel we had a staycation in, this 2016.
Somerset Olympia Makati serviced residence is located along Makati avenue, strategically located across Ayala Triangle park and surrounded by major shopping malls and restaurants. Amidst the busy Makati Business District, Somerset Olympia offered a relaxing weeekend where Seats For Two had a pleasant nostalgia. .
We stayed in a one-bedroom deluxe room (54-57 sqm) one Friday night in January. At the moment of entering the room, we felt the homey and welcoming ambience of the suite.
Generally, we can consider it a huge one-bedroom apartment complete with a dining area and a kitchen with a complete set of appliances. Of course, the spacious living room, bedroom, and bathroom with a bathtub were a staple.
Moreover, it was our first time as a couple to see a washing machine included inside a hotel / serviced apartment. Not that we used it, but just saying. 🙂
Have we mentioned yet that there was a walk-in closet? It complemented the huge bedroom suited for a couple with small kids.
The whole room was probabaly too big for Seats For Two but we were delighted to experience Somerset Olympia Makati.
Home Away from Home
She says: “I started exploring the kitchen while hubby immediately checked out the bedroom. I thought wives and moms would love to cook and prepare a fancy meal because of it’s fully equipped kitchen with Electrolux home appliances – a cooker hob and hood, microwave oven, refrigerator, rice cooker, toaster, glassware, crockery, cutlery and utensils.“
If that’s not enough, Somerset Olympia is just about two blocks away from Rustan’s supermarket and few more from Landmark supermarket.
He says: “The spacious living room is perfect for family bonding and watching movies from the home entertainment system with LCD television, cable channels and DVD player. The round dining table became my temporary work station because wifey already occupied the one in our bedroom. 🙂 “
Even the bedroom was expansive. The mattress was just right and not too soft, suited for my sensitive lower back. In fact, we had a soothing in-room body massage before bedtime. There were two air-conditioners, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. We loved the wood-tile flooring as well.
A Visit to the Old Swiss Inn & More
Our stay was made extra special with all of the ‘little extras’ from the staff. From the chocolates, colorful candies, sweets, and the relaxing in-room body massage from Paradasia Spa after a great dinner at Old Swiss Inn.

Aside from cooking, watching a movie, and enjoying your stay, guests are invited to lounge at the outdoor pool or get some stretching at the fitness center. Moreover, pets are allowed in the property with special highlight in one of the four towers of Somerset Olympia. 🙂
