Chef Laudico Guevarra’s Holiday Platters and Dessert
Christmas is one of the busiest time of the year. Some of us can’t even find the perfect time to gather friends and the entire family for lunch or dinner. Guevarra’s restaurant offers modern and traditional Filipino Cuisine. Since it opened in 2013, Chef Laudico Guevarra’s has been a preferred venue for events. The sprawling lawn and the 1920s heritage house have hosted various milestones – from birthdays, baptisms, and weddings to corporate parties and product launches. The 80-item buffet with classic and modern Filipino dishes by chefs Rolando “Lau” and Jac Laudico is worth a drive to San Juan City, some guests travel from as far as Nueva Ecija, Pangasinan, Batangas and Laguna for the dining experience.
But their restaurant is not the only place you can enjoy their creations. Now it is possible to have a Guevarra’s “Handaan Kahit Saan” by ordering their party trays. You can feast on your Guevarra’s favorites anywhere. Most of the dishes are available in two sizes, servings good for 12 to 15 and, six to eight persons.
Reasonably priced, this is an excellent alternative to doing the cooking yourself. If you are organizing a gathering, you can order several items and put together your own Guevarra’s buffet wherever you want. Guevarra’s Handaan Kahit Saan includes the mainstays of the restaurant buffet. “These are the items that are most requested, we get complaints when they’re not available,” chuckles chef Jac.
Number one on the menu is lechon that’s charcoal spit-roasted to perfection. There’s also Pugon-Roasted Pork Bellychon and Pugon-Roasted US Angus Beef Shortplate. Also on the li st are Kare Kare, Kaldereta, and Grilled Beef Tapa—all made with US Angus beef. Chicken options are Tamarind and Lemongrass-Spiced Roast Chicken Sinampalukan which is best served with Kamote Salad, and Fried Chicken Adobo. For the noodles and pasta, choices are Pansit Bihon Guisado, Pansit Canton Guisado, Palabok, and Party Spaghetti.
Make your celebrations stress-free and leave the food preparation to the experts. At Guevarra’s, everything is prepared from scratch, the way chef Lau learned while growing up. “I still remember our family Sunday brunches. We didn’t rely on convenience products or instant stuff and part of the enjoyment was in the preparation. It took a lot of time and effort but it was worth it since the food was absolutely delicious. That’s the same dedication that I instill in my kitchen staff, to do everything the long and traditional way, the way how our lolas and lolos cooked but with my own signature style,” explains chef Lau.
Chef Jac’s expertise is reflected in the desserts. She also combines the old with the new in her Strawberry Shortcake, Brazo de Calamansi, Mocha Cake, and Brigaderos. They make great presents, along with other goodies in small packages that are light on the pocket and easy to hand out. Among the line up are Butterscotch, Crinkles, Brigaderos Balls (yema and dark chocolate truffles), Kalabasa Pastillas Balls (milk candies lightened with squash), Maja Blanca, and Cassava Cake Flan.
