Kamuning Bakery Cafe Celebrates World Pandesal Day 2024
Filipinos love pandesal! It’s one of our favorite food to eat especially for breakfast and even snacks. Spearheaded by the 85-year-old Kamuning Bakery Café in Barangay Kamuning, Quezon City, we celebrate World Pandesal Day every month of October. This year about 100,000 free pandesal were given away along other food and gifts to celebrate World Pandesal Day.
The first “World Pandesal Day” civic and cultural project was launched on October 16, 2015 at Kamuning Bakery Café in Quezon City. The historic, artisanal Kamuning Bakery Café is Quezon City’s pioneer bakery and its owner, realty entrepreneur and writer Wilson Lee Flores has turned it into a social enterprise with profits going to civic and cultural charities like rural public schools donations and the annual World Pandesal Day.
Ex-Sen. Ping Lacson, Sen. Imee Marcos & Kamuning Bakery Cafe owner Wilson Lee Flores hold biggest Pandesal to celebrate “World Pandesal Day”. They gave 100,000 Free Pandesal & other foods to urban poor families, also orphanages in Metro Manila, last Oct. 16.
Kamuning Bakery Cafe on Oct. 11 also donated a public school building to Sinait Integrated School in Tarlac province as part of this annual civic & cultural project to honor the uniquely Filipino bread Pandesal and to highlight need to solve problem of global hunger. Pres. Bongbong Marcos, VP Sara Duterte and other leaders also expressed support for World Pandesal Day.
