Be #WeatherWiser!
As a tropical country, being updated about the weather in real-time is as important as our travels and safety in the destinations we are going to or where we are in the Philippines.
Last week, Seats For Two is delighted to meet new friends from socio-civic group – WeatherPhilippines! They invited us over for an informal get-together in Anvaya Cove in Bataan. We met at Starbucks near Landmark and Trinoma in the morning and got on a 2-hour weekend roadtrip.
Upon arriving and having lunch, we learned basic mountaineering from the folks of Mountain Headwear. After which, we had an educational orientation and game about the Weather Philippines mobile application.
What is WeatherPhilippines
WeatherPhilippines is an organization that provides the Filipino with a premier weather sensing and forecasting system. Founded in 2012 by the Aboitiz Foundation, UnionBank, and Meteogroup, they deliver free, more localized, and accurate weather information accessed through weather.com.ph.
As of last year, WeatherPhilippines has deployed 750 Automated Weather Stations (AWS) nationwide, partnered with more than 568 LGUs and private sector companies, and has started its #WeatherWiser Nation campaign.
WeatherPhilippines Mobile Application
With modern technology, being weather-wiser is now easier, specially with the WeatherPhilippines Mobile App.
After leaving Starbucks Trinoma in Quezon City, I immediately downloaded and gave the application a try. I got the correct weather status in Malolos Bulacan where our van was treading at that moment.
Moreover, it gives weather a personal touch through its customizable locations, and color-coded weather warnings based on world meteorological standards. The user can select, save, and label significant locations from a list of 750 areas which have AWS.
Users can easily access the weather information and 5-day localized weather forecasts of significant places, such as homes, offices, favorite travel destinations, and the beach.
So downlaod the app yourself and use it for your own benefit. We don’t have to wait for a storm, or typhoon, or a natural disaster to use this weather forecast application. You can already use it in your everyday travels in the city or in different provinces around the Philippines.
WeatherPhilippines can also help strengthen local travels which inspired the development of the new mobile application. Seats For Two itself came form Club Paradise Resort in Coron, Palawan last week and Sandugo 2015 in Bohol just tonight.
