Our Networld Hotel Overnight Stay & Review
The staycation we had a few weeks ago was not our usual weekend vacation. It was beyond ordinary because it was Japanese-themed. Read on and discover with us what Networld Hotel Spa and Casino had in store for us.
Networld Hotel
It all started when we checked-in one Sunday afternoon, right after our church service and lunch, two weeks ago. We were quite busy as a couple so we had an extended weekend booking our overnight stay over Sunday night to Monday.
Networld Hotel is the quaint golden building conveniently located at the corner of the busy Gil Puwat Avenue (formerly Buendia) and the historical Roxas Boulevard. Nearby landmarks include the World Trade Center (WTC), Philippine Trade and Training Center (PTTC), Cultutral Center of the Philippines (CCP), and one of the biggest mall in the Philippines – SM Mall of Asia (SM MOA).
It has two entrances, one was for its casino wing and the other one right next to it – the main entrance to the lobby. The receptionists very courteous to accommodate us and orient us about the amenities of the hotel which includes an in-house Japanese spa facility called SM Kenko Spa, a Japanese restaurant named Kaishu, a Spanish-named restaurant Le Amoretto, and of course, the Pagcor casino.
Networld Hotel Rooms
Upon the invitation of Networld Hotel, they highly recommended for us to experience their iconic Royal Room on the 9th floor, to which we obliged. Upon opening of the door of our room 906, it revealed to us a panoramic view of Roxas Boulevard extending to the Manila Bay – and it was serene.
There were only two instances I can remember where I had a hotel room similar to this. One was when we had our honeymoon at Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila, and the other one was in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; but it wasn’t that high from what I can remember and it was not a corner room so the view was blocked by city building in Kuala Lumpur.
This time, there were very few tall buildings leading to the sea so I was able to see PICC, a part of SM Mall of Asia, even Sofitel Manila, and of course, the Manila Bay.
The panoramic glass window had two sliding curtains, one was thick and the other translucent, to allow adjustments to lighting conditions. The glass window was also protected by steel railings.
On the other hand, my wife was concious of our privacy as we could clearly see the nearby flyover at the intersection of Roxas and Buendia, but I told her that the windows are tainted and we are hardly visible from the outside. 🙂
The room had a dresser, a closet, a vintage radio side table, air-conditioning unit, a cable TV, a tea-time dining table, and most importantly for bloggers, there’s Wi-Fi with a good internet connection.
You may have noticed that there were two twin beds. 🙂 We were warned beforehand that all the Royal Room had twin beds. When given the option, we still chose the Royal Room to experience the panoramic view. My wife and I actually fit in one of the twin beds where we slept that night. Aside from businessmen, I think the room is also ideal for a small family where the kids or children can stay on the other bed. A big family can request for an additional extra bed. There are only six (6) Royal Rooms which are located on the 7th to 9th floors of the hotel.
The comfort room / toilet was also spacious, about a third of the bedroom, actually. It had a shower area and a bath tub. We were informed that all the rooms in Networld Hotel had bathtubs in lieu of the absence of a swimming pool; a trade well enough.
The other type of hotel rooms in Networld are the Standard, Deluxe, Executive, Super Deluxe, Royal, and Penthouse, in order increasing size and hotel rates.

SM Kenko Spa
It was a lazy Sunday mid-afternoon. And after settling at the room and catching up on The Walking Dead on cable TV, it was time for a relaxing foot spa (foot scrub and foot massage) at the SM Kenko Spa at the 5th and 6th floor of the hotel.
Read more about this interesting spa experience soon at Living Marjorney where my wife tells her story. It was really interesting because it was both our first time to try a “Japanses Spa“. In summary, this means we were fully naked in the wet area of our separate spas for male and female! We just met again at the foot spa area. 🙂
With refreshed feet, wifey and I went back to our room for a while where we caught the sunset along Manila Bay from our room’s panoramic window. It was a good way of ending a stressful-turned-easy weekend.
Dinner at KaiShu
Another first in this hotel staycation experience was the “tatami” room at KaiShu Restaurant. Tatami rooms are ‘washitsu‘-inspired private VIP rooms at KaiShu that utilizes tatami tables and flooring.

After the filling dinner, we rested an hour before we had our full-body massage, again at SM Kenko Spa. Although they don’t have a particular couple’s room, they have a group room consisting of at least 5 massage beds where we had the whole room to ourselves. We can call it “Massage Beds For Two”. 🙂

Buffet Breakfast at Le Amoretto
Needless to say, we had a good night sleep as a couple in one of the twin beds while hugging each other tightly lest one falls off the bed. 🙂
It was a memorable sight to wake up facing an open and bright morning sky from the 9th floor of a hotel. It makes you want to shout to the world “Good Morning!“….specially to those who are hurrying to their office amidst the heavy Monday morning rush traffic jam on the road we can view from the window. (just kidding).
Buffet breakfasts are one of my favorite as I am a heavy breakfast eater. I tend to eat anything and everything on the buffet, looking forward to try everything. 🙂 I only restrict on carbohydrates during dinner time.
We woke up just before 9am and headed to the 2nd floor of the hotel where their Spanish-named restaurant Le Amoretto is located. Mondays have a Filipino-themed buffet so we had trditional Filipino fare including Adobo, Pansit, and Chicken Tocino for the main dishes.
Other days of the week are either Western, Japanese, or Filipino, depending on assignments which I have yet to know. Nonetheless, they still have the usual hotel buffet niceties for breakfasts such as cornflakes, milk, tea, coffee, and the likes. Pancakes and scrambled eggs can be ordered from the waiter as it is freshly prepared.
I liked the adobo best in this buffet. In general, we had a hearty and filling breakfast buffet at Le Amoretto. There’s just one thing which still bothers me up to present – why does the restaurant name sound Spanish while they serve Filipino, Western, and Japanese buffet? I know, it’s trivial! 🙂

Networld Hotel Review Summary
On a busy day, you would immediately notice that most of Networld Hotel guests are Japanese businessmen. In my spa experience, all the guests were Japanese except for me! We later on learned that about 70% on average, to as much as 90% on peak, of the guests are Japanese nationals.
I guess it’s safe to say that Networld Hotel is not your usual hotel. It may be small compared to other 5-star hotels around, but the service quality is at par, and experience – just as comfortable. I’m glad that being a Japanese-serving hotel, the consciousness and culture for Japanese quality in service is maintained.
