An Endearing Visit to Las Casas in Quezon City

The pandemic alert levels are down, while restaurants and tourist spots are slowly opening up one by one!

One of the local places we’ve been eyeing to visit as a couple is the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan, a beautiful beach resort showcasing colonial heritage houses.

Inside Las Casas QC

We were tempted to avail a promo package that was posted a few months ago. However, with work we decided to set it at a later time. Instead, we booked our 2022 wedding anniversary date at Las Casas QC!

Situated in the heart of Quezon City and located along FPJ Avenue (former Roosevelt Ave.), is a beautiful 18th century Spanish-Filipino house turned into an events place and restaurant.

From the entrance, you would notice some staff in their traditional outfits depicting the Filipino-Hispanic past. An old but charming fountain will greet visitors near the entrance, just outside the main lobby.

On the other side is a wide open space surrounded with tall trees and a stretch of old brick walls.

The structures and images started to bring our imagination back in time . . . a nostalgia of sorts, inspired from our academic Philippine history books.

Before having our actual lunch date at the venue, Mr. Joren  Estipona, operations manager, was kind enough to give us a quick tour of the entire property, including the ongoing construction and developments within the place.

From the main entrance, we passed by Casa Juico, the main house and original structure, central to the identity of this enchanting spot called Las Casas Quezon City.

At the farther end of the “plaza” stands the St. Joseph Chapel whose construction will soon be complete with its ceiling artworks and paitning ongoing. Moreover, they will regularly hold Sunday masses beginning summer of this year.

Surrounding by the plaza are historic replica houses complementing the feel and ambiance of the Filipino-Hispanic era similarly in character of Las Casas Bataan.

Exquisite Lunch Date at Casa Monroy

After the quick tour, a romantic lunch date at Casa Monroy awaited us.

Las Casas Chef’s Specials for the Month of February

Upon reaching the second floor, a cold and refreshing Sago’t Gulaman greeted us for a much-awaited refreshment from the hot mid-day tour. It complemented the summer wind and view from the wide-open windows of the classic old house.

We availed of their February Chef’s Special (Php4,000 nett) – a remarkable four-course meal perfect for couples celebrating special occasions such as wedding anniversaries and birthdays.

We started with a glass of Sauvignon wines – red for him, white for her. Not too long the waiter started serving the dishes beginning with this colorful salad of Lolo Rosso & Dried Mixed Berries made with fresh lettuce, mixed dried berries, cherry tomatoes, and feta cheese drizzled with special vinaigrette and dash pretzel sticks (previous photo).

Next is a bowl of smooth and creamy Seafood Bisque made from shrimp and crabmeat. We enjoyed its rich and textured profile in preparation for the main dishes .

The highlight of our meal is the tender and juicy, Prime Angus Ribeye in Au jus sauce with French Beans and Risotto Alfalfa. We had it prepared medium-rare, and it was very good and flavorful.

The risotto was cooked al-dente, necessitating a little bite into it. You have the option to have it soft ease or well-cooked,

Gluten Free Flourless Cake

Capping our romantic lunch wedding anniversary date at Las Casas Quezon City is a decadent Chocolate Flourless Cake with Vanilla Syrup.

It’s a gluten-free, flourless cake with a dense, rich and fudgy texture. It’s not too sweet and is definitely great having with black coffee or tea.

Although this Chef’s Special Four-Course Meal  was made available exclusively for February, you would definitely love to try their new Chef’s Special for March which will have Sea Bass as the main dish.

Las Casas QC is indeed a gem at the heart of Quezon City. We basically just scratched the surface of what the site has to offer as more services and amenities are brewing in the next months including accommodation options, a spa center, more thematic restaurants, and a full-service chapel; – you could basically get married here and have the whole celebration in one place! But that’s for another feature article, of course. We’ are definitely going to be back!
