Memories At Hotel InterCon Manila
Our previous Christmases as a couple was celebrated at home where I prepared my specialty dishes including pasta and chicken afritada. This Christmas, hubby suggested we book an overnight stay at Hotel Intercontinental Makati before it finally bids goodbye this January 1, 2016.
So a week before Christmas, I emailed mnlha-resvn@ihg.com and booked for a brief staycation for Christmas eve – December 24.
We arrived past 2pm and noticed the high-volume crowd at the lobby and check-in counters. A lot of guests were coming to celebrate Christmas for the last time at the Grand Dame – Intercontinenetal Makati.
Our Hotel Room
We did not waited too long though, they work fast and in just few minutes we were inside our suite at the 8th floor, room 821 to be exact. As an IHG Club Rewards member, they upgraded our classic room to a suite.
Our hotel room at Intercontinental Manila has a king-size bed, a sofa with center table, an LCD television with cable, and a working desk.
I love the interior and design of our room. It feels like home.
Our mattress and pillows were soft and comfortable as well. The room was cool even after we turned-off the air-conditioning system so we hugged tight most of the night.
The bathroom is on the other side of the bedroom and there were a lot of mirrors in general, which I prefer.
Experiencing InterCon Manila
We went around the hotel and the first thing we did was to check the pool area, steam, and sauna.
We hung around and watched the sunlight as it faded and savoring the moment. Hubby went on to check the spa and fitness center which is operated by Gold’s Gym.
And then we left for a while for our early Christmas eve dinner.
While looking for a dinner place, we passed by Cafe Shibuya for some kani salad. I initially wanted to dine at Italiannis but it’s quite far so hubby suggested Cafe Mary Grace or somewhere we haven’t tried.
We walked around and reached as far as Greenbelt where Pinkberry, Lorenzo’s Way are located. We realized it’s late and all the restaurants are already closing.
Well, that’s just another #SeatsForTwoMisadventure, lol! We ended up having packed dinner from Family Mart, one of the few stores still open at tha ttime – 8:30pm.
We were hungry but hubby and I enjoyed our simple noche buena with lots of chocolate bars from our friend Karl Oliver Yu whom we met over lunch that same day.
We slept late and waited for 12 midnight to greet each other “Merry Christmas”.
It was one of the few staycations where we enjoyed watching cartoon films and laughed at Big Hero 6 (woot Baymax!).
Breakfast Buffet @ Cafe Jeepney
We were excited for the buffet breakfast at Cafe Jeepney, Hotel InteCon‘s iconic restaurant.
It was my first time to dine here, but not for hubby. The restaurant was full and we waited for about 10 minutes before we got a ‘seat for two‘.
The spread was okay, we had omelet, pancit, chicken adobo, bread and pastries, cereals and congee, among others. I had a cup of brewed coffee while hubby had hot chocolate.
Being an IHG Club member, I was also entitled for a late check out at InterCon Manila until 2pm.
We had more time to spend in our suite and the pool area. Hubby visited Gold’s Gym again and used the sauna.
I wonder where and when our next staycation would be? 🙂 Maybe on Valentine’s? 🙂 Though Valentines day is still a month from now, it’s never too early to prepare for your loved one! Check out Zalora for gift ideas!
It’s sad to see Intercon Manila closing down its doors for good. 🙁
Yeah, we would love to hear #MemoriesAtIntercon from our readers.
