My Birthday Staycation At Hotel Okura Manila

Almost every year, during my birthday we would go somewhere to celebrate this special day. Enjoying the white sand beach of Boracay even during the rainy July or food trip and sightseeing in another country such as Singapore and Taiwan. In the previous years, we opted to stay in a hotel within the city. Last year was quite special when my husband treated me to an overnight stay at Hotel Okura in Newport World Resorts.

Located just a few minutes from Ninoy Aquino International Airport and about 30-minutes to SMX Mall of Asia Convention Center, Hotel Okura Manila offers luxurious hotel accommodation within the comfort and security of Newport City. The moment we stepped into its elegant lobby, we knew we would have a great stay. It was very calming and relaxing.

Check-in process at Okura Manila was smooth and fast. We stayed at one of the luxurious and spacious premiere rooms with a king bed, equipped with modern amenities such as the revolving high-definition flatscreen revolving TV, Nespresso machine and Japanese bidet. Its floor-to-ceiling window provides calming a ambiance with natural light coming in and closing the window with just a press from the touchscreen control panel.

Usually during our stays, I would wear silk pajamas. Here, we definitely enjoyed having coffee and tea in a yukata robe while watching movies.

The room has an atmosphere of contemporary Japanese elegance and is the perfect haven for business travelers or small families. Another impressive amenity is the elegant marble toilet and bath with enclosed shower area, double sink and a bathtub. Of course expect a Japanese toilet with washlet bidet function. It allows you to wash with warm water and keeps the toilet seat heated.

Of course we made sure to try other amenities outside of our hotel room. Japan is known for their onsen or natural hot springs. It’s highly popular in all regions of Japan. We spent the late afternoon lounging by the pool and relaxing at the wellness center with a Japanese-inspired hot tub. It was one of our favorite amenities at Hotel Okura Manila.

The king-sized, soft mattress provided comfort, relaxation and good night sleep. I would love to stay longer in bed but the Japanese breakfast is something I would not want to miss.

Traditional Japanese Breakfast at Yamazato

Having Japanese breakfast usually happens when you’re staying in a finer hotel. While there are some hotels that offer basic Japanese food for breakfast such as maki rolls and Japanese breads, you’ll rarely find grilled fish, miso soup, tamagoyaki (rolled omelet) and tofu in buffet breakfast unless it’s a Japanese hotel and restaurant.

We had Japanese bento breakfast at Yamazato restaurant. Serving was huge with lots of side dishes. Bread, soup, salad and dessert are available unlimited at the buffet area. Overall, it was a fantastic meal in a beautiful modern Japanese restaurant.

Shopping and Entertainment at Newport Mall

Moreover, guests don’t need to go far for shopping and leisure. Newport World Resorts has several casual and fine dining restaurants, shopping and leisure destinations, world class cinemas, concerts and live performances at Newport Performing arts, and casino, among others. Some restaurants are also open 24 hours.
